The Friends' Central School PLP team has several ideas in process for our final project. We have created a Ning, FCSHappenings, to be an online community for faculty in all three divisions on both of our campuses. We created an online space where faculty can brainstorm and share ideas about their classrooms as well as relax together. As a group, we have used the Ning as a sandbox, adding interest groups and discussions that relate to our passions, and we look forward to introducing the Ning to the rest of the faculty.

In addition to creating the Ning, members of our group have been working on an article about our PLP experience that will be included in a faculty publication this spring. This article will introduce our faculty to the abstract concept of a virtual learning community before they dip a toe into our own real-life FCSHappening VLC.

Finally, we are proposing to our summer reading committee that Curriculum 21 (ed. Heidi Hayes Jacobs, 2010) be selected as our all-school faculty summer reading book. We will tie the summer reading into the introduction of FCSHappenings to the faculty, likely by having the discussion of the summer reading among faculty take place on the Ning.

We are in the process of outlining guidelines for use of FCSHappenings, as well as deciding how best to roll out the Ning to the faculty, since it will require some training as well as time for teachers to log on in our computer labs to set up their accounts and explore.

Our Year One PLP final project is a platform to link our faculty who have been disconnected due to time limitations and campuses separated by several miles.
